Zoya Zara, Zoya Hope, and OPI DS Mystery Gradient Mani!

Hi there, beauties!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! As previously mentioned, I own a LOT of purple polishes. Like a TON. It's my favorite color (for my nails, but also just in general), so I decided to make a gradient mani with a few of my purple polishes- Zoya Zara, Zoya Hope, and OPI DS Mystery! I did this using a makeup sponge and I blended the colors over my base coats of Zara. First I sponged the middle color, Hope, then I did the tips with DS Mystery. Hope you guys like it =]!

DS Mystery, Zoya Hope, and Zoya Zara!

I decided to make the tips the darkest part of this mani, but I have seen others do it in reverse. This is just the way I prefer it =]

Close up!

Whole mani! Btw...that is totally not an engagement ring, it's a promise ring =]!

Overall, I really liked the look of this mani and it's really easy to do. However...it's longevity SUCKS. This thing lasted me a whopping 12 hours before it was chipped and yucky-looking. I had to do some moving from my old house this weekend so I'm positive that had something to do with the chipping...but still, these chips weren't small or even fixable, they were really ugly! I would do this mani again, but I might apply the darker polish a little thinner if possible to prevent chipping.

Have a great day!

Lindsey

Behold- OPI Turquoise Shatter and Zoya Lindsay

Hi there!

After seeing a few OPI facebookers talk about their local JCPenney Salon carrying the new OPI Shatter colors, I decided to give mine a call. It turns out they only had one left of the one I've been pining for, Turquoise, and the nice lady saved it for me until I got there! I just about had a heart attack in the salon once I saw it for the first time...it's BEAUTIFUL! It's almost beyond words...so here are the pictures of OPI Turquoise Shatter over 3 coats of Zoya Lindsay (my name sake!), I'll let them speak for themselves!

Totally not photoshopped...the sun was shining just right to make this bottle glow =]!

Oooooh....

Ahhhhh....

You can see how Lindsay can be a little sheer in this one and the next one.

Love the shimmer in this!

One more shot of the bottle...

I <3 glitter, sooooo pretty!

This one might be worth clicking and seeing it full size =]

The whole mani! I feel like my thumb doesn't get much love in most pictures. I normally don't like to do this "hand pose" as it looks like I'm about to claw your eyes out...sorry guys. Haha!

Final Verdict- I am absolutely in LOVE with turquoise shatter! Definitely my favorite so far! It crackles easily and really was no-fuss for me. Also, the fact that it contains shimmer and a hint of micro glitter makes me INCREDIBLY happy! As far as Zoya Lindsay, it is incredibly sheer for your first 2 coats...but it's buildable and I got it to be opaque enough for my taste in 3 coats. Since it dries pretty easily, though, I imagine you could do 4 or 5 if you want it to be truly opaque.

I'm a huge fan of this combo, what do you guys think =]? What's your opinion of the new shatter colors?

May Birchbox- My first one!

Hi lovelies,

After reading about a million blogs about Birchbox and the amazingness of it, I decided to subscribe earlier this month. I was fully prepared for the June box to be my first, but I guess I ordered early enough to get the May one! I was SOOOOO excited for this to come, and let me tell you I'm quite happy with it! If you aren't familiar with Birchbox, basically it's a subscription for $10 a month (that can be cancelled at any time) where you receive a box of deluxe samples each month. Every Birchbox is different and is kind of tailored to your interests because when you sign up, it will allow you to customize a beauty profile which asks questions about the products you use most, your personality, your style, and so on. They can include lotions, perfumes, makeup, skin care products, or hair products. Also, they do a monthly treat in each box which is a random item that normally doesn't have to do with beauty, just a fun little bonus =]! So, without further ado, I give you the May Birchbox!

The cute pink box it arrives in =] Btw, yes. This is on my kitchen counter. Sorry...Trying to find the best lighting in my house and so far, the kitchen wins. =P

You open the pink box, and here it the box inside! I wonder if another box is in this one....and then another...and another...

Nope, no more boxes. Here is the card laid on top that explains the theme of the May Birchbox. This one is supposed to be about timeless products that your mother would choose, since Mother's Day is in May.

I unwrapped the pink tissue paper and this is exactly how I found everything...so nicely arranged!
I unwrapped the little bundle inside and...I knew it, ANOTHER BOX! Haha =]

This first sample wasn't quite deluxe, but I still enjoyed it. It's a little perfume sample, Bulgari Mon Jasmin Noir. It smells nice, the description says it "has waves of ripe fruit with a base of heady jasmine". I would agree, it's really flowery and sweet smelling, but it's a little strong for me. I might use this every now and again but one spray will DEFINITELY do the trick!

This next sample is Archipelago Pomegranate Soap. They weren't kidding about the pomegranate part...it smells EXACTLY like one! If you are a pomegranate fan, you'll love the smell! I just gave this soap a try and I like it! It has a nice, soft lather and only leaves a light smell of pomegranate on your skin, not at all overwhelming for me. I don't think I'd go out of my way to purchase this again, but I will happily use this little sample =]!

This is a little tube of Mineral Hand Cream by Ahava. Before I tried it, I noticed that it includes Dead Sea water. I don't really know if this does anything, but I just thought it was cool =]. The scent reminds me of baby powder and is kind of heavy for my taste. It goes on nicely but it's a little greasy...but then again, I'm really picky about the lotions I like. I don't think I'd buy this on my own and I don't know if I will use it a ton. I'll give it a few more tries before it is given to a friend or my mom, haha =]

Here it is- the crown jewel of this month's Birchbox- a full size Stila Eyeshadow! I was so happy I was sent this, many people who didn't get an eyeshadow were bummed out! This eyeshadow is worth $18 on its own, so this alone makes the Birchbox investment worth it!
It was sent in a little plastic palette. I'm sure if you have a blank spot in another palette, you could switch it to that, but I don't have one so this is where mine will live =P. This shade is called Moonlight and I'd describe it as a silvery-white shimmer. I'll most likely be using this for highlighting or adding just a bit of shimmer, as it seems too light for me to do anything else (any suggestions would be nice! =]).

Here's a swatch of it over Too Faced First Base in the sunlight =]

Here is this month's treat, a cute little blank card from Tiny Prints! I don't have much stationary, so I'm happy to receive this!

Look at the cute birdies on the inside =]!

On a scale from 1-10, I would rate this month's Birchbox a 7. I am pretty happy with it, but I wish the samples were a little bigger (and not as strong smelling...yes, I'm talking to you, perfume and hand lotion!). I will be continuing my subscription because lets face it, one of the most fun things about this is the surprise! If any of you subscribe to Birchbox, let me know what you got and what you think of the products! Have a nice evening!

Just call me feather-head.

Hi there, beauties!

Hope everyone's day is going well! This post it kind of short because I just wanted to show you something cool I did the other day. Anyone every hear of those feather hair extensions? They're quite popular right now, and with my love for randomness and bright colors, I decided to get one myself! I went to Brillare Hairdressing Academy in Phoenix (love this place =]!) with my buddy, Jenn. Here are the pictures!

I went with this really pretty magenta one =]

Jenn chose a turquoise one, super pretty with her hair color! ITS SO FLUFFEEEEEEH! (If any of you have seen Despicable Me, you'll know the exact way I said that, haha =D!)

These things are super cool because they can last up to 6 months if they are taken care of. You can style them just like your normal hair (I've heard some bloggers suggest that a lower heat setting it better for it, though). Getting them put in is super quick to, mine took literally two minutes! They loop a small piece of your hair through a wire thingy which strings a little metal bead onto your actual hair. Then, they slide the end of the feather in between the bead and your hair and take a pair of small pliers and pinch the bead until it squishes the feather onto the strands of hair. I'll keep you guys posted if I have any issues with it falling out of becoming gross or something, but I don't think it'll give me any problems for quite some time. My boyfriend's mother has had one for probably a month now and it still looks good as new! Let me know if any of you have had these and what you think of them! See ya!

P.S.- Enjoy =]

China Glaze Fault Line & OPI Whats With the Cattitude?

Hey everyone!

So the other day, I went to my local Target so pick up some nail stuff and as I was driving into the parking lot, a single beam of sunlight was shining down upon one new addition to the strip mall...I heard the angels singing the Hallelujah Chorus as I read the sign- Sally Beauty Supply. OH HAPPY DAY! A Sally's right across the street, how amazing, and not to mention CONVENIENT! I walked up to it and found it still wasn't open...but as I broken-heartedly turned to go home, a very nice lady strolled by and told me it would be open that coming Monday (she MUST have been heaven-sent with that kind of good news!). Naturally, I went on Monday for the grand opening in search of one item in particular...China Glaze Fault Line. The Hallelujah Chorus played for a second time as I spotted a full display of ALL the China Glaze Crackles! I was in polish heaven...but I only let myself buy the one I came for (although I was extremely tempted by Crushed Candy, the light blue one). I came home and almost immediately began my new mani. Now...enough of my rambling! Here are the pics of CG Fault Line and OPI What's With the Cattitude!

I must say, I loved the contrast between these two colors! Different enough to make both colors other pop, but similar enough that it isn't displeasing to the eye.
You can kind of see the slight shimmer that Fault Line contains...it's really subtle, but GORGEOUS!

Wow my pinky is weird...anyone else have a crooked pinky like me =P?

Sorry this one is a little blurry, but I included a little bit of a close up so that you guys can really see the crackle pattern. This one breaks up mostly linear instead of the square-like OPI shatters, but I like it!

Just a tip with these, be careful with the pressure you use to apply them. For my very first try (over my old mani) I was way too heavy handed on the brush and it barely crackled at all. This time around, I used the lightest pressure I could and I like how it turned out. If any of you have other suggestions, feel free to leave some comments, I'd love to hear them!

Have a great day, everyone!

Hey Howdy Hey!

Well hello there, everyone! The name’s Lindsey. For about 6 months now, I’ve had this ever-growing love for all things nail polish (and the occasional beauty product…gotta love makeup!). So about a couple weeks ago I was thinking, “Hey, I read a TON of awesome nail blogs, what’s stopping me from creating one of my very own?” and POOF! I give you my creation- Neverland Nail Blog.

I chose the name for a couple reasons. #1- I love Disney, and that, my friends, is a Peter Pan reference! #2- I feel like I kind of live in my own little Neverland. I’m 20 years old, but I don’t feel it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m mature when I have to be, but why not view life like a child? Things are less stressful and WAY more fun that way!

For my first post, I thought you guys should know a little bit about me and what you can expect to be included in my blog. What better way to do this than to show you through nail art!? I’ve made a list of 5 of the most unique and defining interests/characteristics about me that you, the readers, should know, and I’ve made some nail art to provide a visual =]! So, without further ado, I give to you 5 fun facts about Lindsey!

5. I’m a proud Christian!

That's right, folks! I love Jesus and I'm not afraid to share it! I was raised in a Christian home and I attended private school all of my life (until college). This may have something to do with my child-like qualities, but I like it that way!

4. I LOVE bows!

Bows are my thing, I wear them ALL the time! On my nails, in my hair, on my clothes or jewelry, doesn't matter to me! I must say, though, I am picky about how bows look. I used to work at...erm...a specific chocolate store...lets just call it "Dogiva" =], and I was taught a very specific way to tie bows and I guess it kind of stuck!

3. The more purple…the better!

Purple is the color of all colors in my opinion! I have the most nail polishes in this color, many of them are similar, but I just can't seem to stop buying them....yeah, I have a problem. I assure you, my new friends, you will see plenty of purple nail art on this blog =]

2. Disney is another obsession of mine…

I am obsessed with Disney, especially Disneyland! This all began in 2008...ever hear of the Year of a Million Dreams? Disneyland chooses a yearly theme, and this particular one was all about making random people's dreams come true. One of the grand prizes was a night's stay in the Dream Suite (it's INSIDE Disneyland!). With a 1 in 87,000 chance to win, my insanely lucky mother was chosen! This was the most amazing night of my life... my family and friends were in a parade, we had an after hours tour in bathrobes and slippers (the tour guides told us it was tradition =]), dinner at the Blue Bayou, and we had so many other magic moments and freebies that night! I will NEVER forget it!

1. I will NEVER grow up!

I'm technically an adult...but nobody will ever make me give up my childhood! Being a kid is just way too much fun. I did this nail art because it was random and completely made up as I went...which was how I was as a child, and still am today!

I hope you guys enjoyed my first post...more are on the way! Please excuse the dry cuticles...after seeing these picture, I've invested a little TLC into them so they are prettier for next time. Don't be afraid to follow me or tell your friends!

Lots of Love,
Lindsey <3
