Essence Dress for a Moment topped with Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers Black Magic

Hi there =]!

This is a CRAAAAZY Monday for me, so this post might be a bit on the quick side! I just wanted to show you all my simple mani from this weekend, I used 2 coats of Essence Dress for a Moment and topped it with one coat of Wet N' Wild Fantasy Makers Black Magic. Check it outttt!

I think this glitter looks like sprinkles =]! So cute!

Final Verdict- This mani is really cute and simple; it was like a polish palette cleanser after my crazy WNAC mani =] The formula for DFAM was seriously amazing, it wasn't streaky and was perfectly opaque after 2 coats! Black Magic was a great polish, also. It isn't bumpy or gritty like some glitters (my guess is because the bar glitters are so itty bitty!). It added just the right amount of sparkle =]!

Weekly Nail Art Challenge- Round 4!

Hey there =]!

It's that time of the week! I've done my Weekly Nail Art Challenge and it's time to show you all the pictures =] Remember- the timing of voting and posts for the WNAC has changed due to my school schedule, so you guys can expect to vote from the weekend to Thursday night at 11:59 PM each week and I'll post my manicure sometime over the weekend =] Round 4's theme was outer space, although I must say it was a CLOSE race, explosion and music came really close! Maybe another time I'll give those a try =]! Anyways, here is my nail art, I hope you all like it =]!

Here it is! Scroll down for an explanation of my thumb...=P

A comet, spaceship (complete with alien =P), and a planet =]

Meet Pluto! This sad little guy used to have the life...but then some nasty scientists spread rumors that he doesn't actually qualify as a real planet =[. He's broken-hearted =[ I put him on my thumb because many argue that the thumb doesn't qualify as a finger, either. Show Pluto some loooove everyone =]!

I hope you like it, I worked really hard on this one =]! Its time for you guys to give me suggestions for the WNAC poll this week, leave a comment with your ideas for next week's theme! And don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Lindsey

Katy Perry Fabulous Funky French!

Hello Pretties =]!

Good news- I'm surviving school so far! This means that I can keep blogging without stressing over school just yet =P I hope your week started off nicely, as well =] I got bored with my random purple mani I did over the weekend, so I decided to do a funky french with some colors I haven't used in a while- OPI Teenage Dream and OPI The One That Got Away. What can I say, I was feeling inspired by Katy Perry =]! The Katy Perry Collection is one of the only FULL polish collections I own- with backups of the real duochrome version of Not Like the Movies and Teenage Dream. I had just become interested in nails a couple months before the release of this collection, so when I found it, I naively bought the entire thing just because of the hype =P I'm not disappointed, though, because all of the colors in this collection are beautiful! Plus, I think Katy Perry is super awesome. I love her bright, colorful, cutesy style! Enough of my chatter, here's my mani!

The One That Got Away is the CLOSEST color I have ever worn to a real red. It intimidates me...I don't feel like I could pull off reds for some reason!

This totally made me feel like I dipped my fingers in sugar sprinkles or something candy-like =]

Whole Mani!

Hooray for funky french manis! I don't do them nearly as often as I should, you can mix them up in so many different ways. I hope you guys liked today's mani =] Have a FABULOUS day =]!

P.S.- I very much enjoy Glee...including the Warbler's arrangement of Teenage Dream...enjoy =]

Yet another random purple mani!

Hi Ladies and Gents!

Is it just another manic Monday for you guys, too? Ugh. School started for me last Thursday (random, right?) and today is another full blown day of classes. I imagine some of you are in the same boat or will be starting soon, yuck! Anywho...over the weekend I decided to do a new mani to brighten my spirits for school =] My first attempt was a lovely patchwork mani (I was using the tutorial over at Chloe's Nails), but it failed because my polish wasn't dry enough when I started using the tape, LAME! But of COURSE I wouldn't let that get me down! I took off that polish and though "Hey, I haven't water marbled in forever!" so naturally, I needed to try marbling next. Yeah...I chose sucky colors to marble with. I picked a few colors with shimmer and they did NOT spread in the water well, they actually looked more like an ugly splatter mani than a marble mani. I think I'll stick to creme polishes next time! So for my third attempt *sigh* I decided to freehand a simple purpley design on my nails, nothing fancy, but I did like how this one turned out. Sorry, that was lengthy, but I wanted you all to know about my epic fail mani night =P Here's some piccys =]!

I used Dr.'s Remedy LOVELY Lavender, Zoya Mimi, and L.A. Colors Black Striping polish!

I wasn't completely happy with how these pictures turned out, they are a little more on the blue side than they are in person...the sun was going down, so there wasn't a ton of sunlight. Time for me to make a lightbox, methinks!

Whole mani!

Overall, I liked how this mani turned out! It was easy for me to freehand this, but I imagine you could also use tape to do the same thing! Now...maybe this mani will give me special powers to survive this crazy Monday at school =P

Weekly Nail Art Challenge- Round 3!

Hi there =]!

I hope your day is going well! I finally got around to doing my WNAC mani, hooray! You all picked a "Back to School" theme for the week and honestly, I was stumped on what to do for a day or two...hence the reason this is late =P With school starting for me today, I've decided that the polls for WNAC will now run from Saturday to Thursday night at 11:59 P.M. and I'll be posting the mani's (hopefully) on Friday's each week. This change will work out better for me, I hope it works ok for you guys too! Anywho, here is this weeks "Back to School" challenge!

In case you can't tell, from L to R- chalkboard, apple, A+ paper, locker, and crayons =]

Well, what do you all think? I don't think this is my favorite one yet, but I don't think it's a complete fail. My favorite one was the A+ paper, I think it tuned out cute =] I wasn't so happy with the crayons and locker, but I tried my best =P! Alrighty, everyone, time to leave your suggestions for next weeks theme! Be creative and give me something fun to do =]!

Zoya Savita!

Hello hello!

Today is a very sad day for me...it's very hard for me to hold the tears in, so I beg for your understanding if my sadness comes across in this post *sniff*...it's my very last day of summer =[ UGH! This is completely not faaaair, school sucks and I'm not ready for it to start, GAH! Ok. Rant over. Time for polish =] I did a simple color-only manicure with Zoya Savita. This polish is a matte, but I decided to add a top coat to make it last a little longer =] Unfortunately I was in a hurry when I did this mani so A. it isn't the neatest one you've ever seen and B. I don't have pictures before the top coat. Hopefully the prettiness of this polish will make it up to you =]!

I think Zoya's matte bottles look so cool =P

This polish becomes SOOO much more shimmery with a top coat!

Whole mani!

Final Verdict- This polish applied pretty nice for a matte! I've heard horror stories about nasty bald spots and dragging, but once I learned that the the least amount of strokes is best with this type of polish, it applied really easily! I really like this shade of purple and I like that I can change the appearance of this polish simply by adding a top coat =]! What do you guys think, does anyone out their own any other great matte polishes?

It's that time again- August Birchbox!

Good morning, you beautiful followers, you!

I finally received my Birchbox, hooraaaaay! I love to read fellow bloggers post's about what they got in their boxes, and mine is the first I've seen (so far) of its kind. That being said, I'm not so sure how keen I am on what I received this month. I'll explain in a minute...here's what I got!

This month's box is supposed to be all about innovative beauty products...we shall see if this is indeed the truth...=P

I still really like how Birchbox packs everything so nicely =]

Group picture =] Smile, kids!

First, I received Befine Night Cream with cocoa, rice bran, and millet (hey, that's what I used to feed my pet parakeets, Pickle and Pookie =D!). Normally when I hear "night cream", I assume this heavy, sticky, greasy cream that just does NOT soak in, but this stuff is nice! The little bit I used was light and nicely scented, which is nice for sensitive noses =] I'll definitely end up using this one as long as I don't have any reactions to it...I have sensitive skin, haha!

Next, I received Number 4 Lumiere D'hiver Reconstructing Masque. When I took an online sneak peek of my Birchbox, this was the product that initially sparked my interest this month. Normally, I love products like this because my hair can be quite frizzy and dry at times....hoooooowever, I just CAN'T get over the icky smell of this stuff! When I initially inhaled it, it literally hurt my sinuses! The best guess I can come up with is like a sickeningly sweet medicine-like citrus smell. I would normally give just about anything a chance, but I just don't know if I can get over the smell...if I do end up using this, I'll let you all know =]

Yay for Stila products! I love when I receive products from well known brands like Stila because I'm not so afraid to give them a try =P. This is Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Medium. I haven't tried any Stila moisturizers in the past, but the information in my box says that this has recently been reformulated  and it's "better than ever". When I tested a small bit on my arm for swatches, I noticed it left a sticky feeling on my arm. Honestly, it felt more like a foundation rather than a moisturizer to me...but then again, I'm sure this isn't meant for arms...perhaps it feels different on your face =P

Here is a swatch in the sunlight. It was fairly sheer and it seemed like it would easily match most medium skin tones.

Hey, here's a beauty innovation! Tocca SPF 30+ Sunscreen Towelettes in Stella are a pretty awesome idea in my book! We could all use more sunscreen, why not carry it around in wipe-form? I haven't opened these yet (I don't want to waste them until I can really give them a try in the AZ sun), but I really like the concept of this product. They are supposed to smell nice, too, which is always a plus =P I hate when you can smell strong sunscreen on a person from a mile away!

Next, I have this small packet of Befine Exfoliating Cleanser. This certainly isn't a deluxe sample as it's only enough for a single use, but I'm pretty excited to give this one a try in the next day or so. The Befine Night Cream smelled good, so I'm hoping the same from this little guy!

On to the biggest mystery of my box. Umm....what? I know this is supposed to be Number 4 Fleur de Temps Volumizing Shampoo, but what's with this odd envelope packaging? Was I supposed to see it like this? I feel like this may have been how Number 4 sent this sample to Birchbox, and then it was just put in my box without being completely unwrapped...odd, yes?

In case you wanted to know what was in this Shampoo, here's the ingredients list...I think. Anyone speak/read...whatever this language is? Not I!

Soooo after I opened the random envelope, this is what was inside. One packet of shampoo and an information card...which incidentally tells me all about the shampoo AND the conditioner, which isn't included...hmmm. I haven't given this a try yet, and I'm not sure if I want to after smelling the hair masque earlier....but since I'll only have to use it once, I'll probably give it a shot.

Last but not least, the extra in this month's box is a Twistband. Lots of bloggers have been saying how this looked like an extra ribbon scrap in their Birchbox and it was almost thrown away; I can see why! I think if it had been another color it would have stood out more, but it's no biggie. Mine stretched out kind of weirdly when I first tried it out (hence the reason why my knot is almost undone), but it really did hold my hair well, and I have a lot of long, thick hair! Not going to lie, I was impressed that this this held my hair so well because I usually have to use two hair ties at once just to keep a ponytail from being loose! Well done, Twistband =]

Final Verdict- This Birchbox isn't my favorite one yet, but I did find a few products that I really enjoy. The others, though, may be regifted because I wasn't a huge fan (I'm talking about YOU, nasty hair masque....blech). Was this box truly innovative? Eh, I don't know about that. Maybe next month's box will stick more to the theme? I will definitely keep ordering Birchbox because I still feel as though it's worth the $10 a month. What did you guys get in your box =]?
