I hope your day was great =]!!! This evening, I have swatches and a review of a new-to-me brand called LA Splash Cosmetics. This company is so fun because they create super unique and bright colors that really make a "splash"....haha =P Lets get this show on the road =]!
Aqua Fusion
2 coats
I've had this thing for blues lately and this color did NOT disappoint! I absolutely love this shade, it's a sky blue metallic with just a hint of blue shimmer =] The formula wasn't -horrible- for this polish, but it was a tad on the thick side. Either way, it still applied decently and dried fairly quickly! I'll definitely be thinning it out before I use it again, though =P
Kamodo Dragon
1 coat
Oi. I'm torn on this one. It's not a color I would choose for myself, but I could certainly appreciate how unique it is. I can't decide if this is a gold, a green, or a brown, and that sort of drives me nuts, haha! Even though the color was interesting, the formula wasn't my cup of tea at all =/ This polish is super opaque, but it was also SUPER thick...I wonder if it dehydrated a little in the mail or something? Because of how goopy it was, it bubbled a bit and you can see that in the pictures =/ I'll have to try to bring this one back to life with some thinner, as well! This had an interesting finish...not quite matte, but not shiny. I guess "satin-y" would be the proper term =P
Pretty Jellyfish
2 coats
Torn again, ugh! I absolutely ADORE the color of this polish (it's dark purple glitters in a light purple shimmery base was super pretty, I've never seen anything like it!), but the formula on this was so incredibly goopy! I'm certain it was due to dehydration with this one because my bottle is missing about a third of the polish, but it didn't leak in my package...I don't exactly know how that happened, but I have to admit I was bummed =/ Figures that the color I like best would have the yuckiest formula =P!
Sparkling Jellyfish
2 coats
I really don't think this shade of coral worked with my skin tone, but it had the best formula out of all of these polishes. I love the holo micro glitters that are jam packed in this polish; the name is quite appropriate =]! It isn't super opaque so I would recommend layering this guy over -something-, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I have many layering polishes that I LOVE! Since this is slightly sheer, I may try to see how this looks over a brighter pink... a touch of extra sparkle never hurt anyone =]!
Love Potion
Nail Art Glitter
Confession time, this was my first experience with a pot of nail glitter! I won't lie, I was nervous about making giant mess...and yes, it was messy, but not nearly as bad as I anticipated! I felt like the glitter was fairly similar to Sparkling Jellyfish, so I thought I'd layer it over that! This glitter is GORGEOUS...in the pot it looks coralish, but on my nail it was more of a true pink (it just looks coral because it's over a coral, haha =P) with a green/yellow flash. I will DEFINITELY be using this again in my nail art and possibly in some franken polishes!
Weeeell there ya go! LA Splash has some gorgeous, creative colors that really are worth looking into. However, beware of those thick formulas! I'm really hoping it was just a slight fluke with dehydration...have any of you tried this brand before? What were your opinions on the formula?
Have you entered my giveaways?

Lindsey

for my honest opinion. The opinions within this review are completely my own.*

I have 15-20 or so LA Splash polishes, most of them glitters (none of the ones that you have here though), so I just did a little swatch-test and none have any serious formula issues that I can identify :) Some are a bit thick as it can be with glitters. I have had nail mail dry out before, I hate that. Thank goodness for thinner. I use the stuff like it's goin out of style, haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for checking for me! Ya, I've heard good things about this brand before so I was really surprised by the formula, glad to hear that isn't the norm for them =]! The colors really are so beautiful, once I thin them out, you can bet you'll see them here again =]!
ReplyDeleteI love all the colors!!
ReplyDeleteSo great!
