Straw Nails!

Hello!

After seeing Jodi at Captivating Claws create this super adorable mani using straws, I knew I had to try it! This technique is quite simple; all you do is dip the end of a straw in polish, then push/roll it onto your nail. To achieve rings instead of filled-in circles, make sure that the polish hasn't formed a bubble over the end of the straw. I made that mistake a couple times with these nails, but I found it was easily fixed with my original base color and a dotting tool =] I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz (3 coats), OPI Dim Sum Plum, and Kiko 292. Funny story...I chose these colors without remembering that my buddy Harri at TrailerHood Chic did this same technique and color combo the other day. Even funnier, I commented on the post and I STILL didn't remember until she pointed it out to me! I sort of feel like an idiot -_- So, credit/inspiration goes to Harri for this design =]! Lookie!

What do you think of this technique? I'm really loving it! You'll notice that I have both big and small circles...well, that's because I used a normal straw and a Capri-Sun straw =P! I always have juice packets/boxes in my house =P Remember...I live in Neverland, I don't have to grow up (fully, at least)!

Check back later tonight...I have another special nail art challenge heading your way ;D

Lindsey

  1. I recently did the straw ends using neons on white - really stands out a lot! Wish I would have thought to use a smaller straw, too - that creates a pretty sweet effect!
